Marie Palmer

Graduate Student Intern

Marie is a person-centered, trauma-informed counselor with a passion for supporting children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a range of emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges.

She works with children navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, and school-related concerns. With over 15 years of experience as an elementary school teacher, Marie brings a deep understanding of child development and learning styles into her clinical work. She creates a space where children feel safe, seen, and supported as they build emotional awareness and coping skills.

Marie also specializes in working with adults living with chronic pain. She is especially drawn to the intersection of physical and emotional health, helping clients explore the psychological and relational impacts of persistent symptoms. Her work often centers on supporting individuals in reconnecting with their sense of identity, autonomy, and hope.

Her therapeutic style is warm and collaborative, grounded in attachment theory and emotional safety. She integrates strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices to support each client’s unique needs and goals.

Marie is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lakeland University and is gaining clinical experience at Engaging Therapies. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia and is a member of the American Counseling Association. Marie is committed to ethical, compassionate, and developmentally informed care.
